Northeast - In the Northeast, they suffer mostly due to severe winter storms. While summers are typically mild, winters there cause many problems for the residents of the northeast. Two huge factors that must be considered when preparing for these storms are frozen pipes and melting snows.

South – It is no surprise that the biggest threat to home insurance providers in the south is hurricanes. With high winds and torrential downpours, hurricanes account for many home insurance claims.

Midwest – Tornadoes are the biggest threat when it comes to home insurance claims in the Midwest. In addition to the damages caused by high winds, tornadoes are also known to cause fires if they rupture power or gas lines. Thankfully, it is sometimes possible to prepare for a tornado.

West Coast – In our neck of the woods, there are two huge threats. We have to worry about both earthquakes and wildfires. It is critical to remember that earthquakes are not covered by California home insurance. To get coverage for this peril, you must invest in a separate earthquake insurance policy!
