Fire Stations and California Home Insurance Rates
Have you ever heard about the three most important factors in determining the value of a home?
If your answer was “Location, Location, and Location” then congratulations!
Did you also know that location is a huge factor considered when determining your California home insurance rates? It’s true, insurance providers consider a ton of different factors when determining your premium and deductible, but location is one factor that has a lot of sway in the final rate.
The reason? Well, it’s really quite simple when you think about it. Your home’s location determines the quality of service you will receive if you ever need assistance.
For example, consider this. Two homes that are exactly the same are located in two vastly different areas. One is only a few miles away from the local fire station. More than that even, the fire station down the road has five star service. They respond quickly and efficiently to every fire in the area.

The second home isn’t so lucky. It is way out in the middle of nowhere, and there isn’t a fire station for miles and miles. If this home were to ever have a fire, it’s likely they wouldn’t have the help they need for much longer than average.
If you were an insurance provider, would you see a difference between these homes when quoting each of them California home insurance? Of course you would! In the case of a fire, your risk for losses on the first house is much lower than that of the second house.
