California Business Insurance: Health Coverage for Employees
Did you know that, as a business owner, there are four major types of healthcare insurance you can provide your employees as a part of your California business insurance package? The four types, as well as a short description, are as follows:
Indemnity Plans:
This is one of the more typical insurance plans. In this coverage, your employees are responsible for paying a deductible up to a certain amount, at which point the healthcare would take over. This policy allows you lots of flexibility.

HMO Plans:
In this care package, your employees are typically made to pick a primary care physician from a supplied list, and that physician is responsible for managing their healthcare. Treatment by doctors outside the network is typically not covered.
PPO Plans:
With a PPO, your business’s California business insurance provider will enter into an agreement with select hospitals and doctors. If employees wish to see a doctor outside their insurance network, they will likely have to pay a higher deductible on the services.
POS Plans:
This plan is best described as a fusion of PPO and HMO plans. Employees are asked to choose a primary care physician, but seeing doctors other than the PCP is covered (with a higher deductible).
